An unexpectedly hilarious, gentle and touching coming-of-age film set amidst the Syrian war in Damascus. It follows 14-year-old Zeina as she navigates falling in love with the boy next door in a war zone, all the while her mother and father face the dilemma of whether to stay or to leave and become refugees.
Local Review:
“I saw the preview screening with a talk from the director – it’s a brilliant film on so many levels. Everyone in the cast including all extras were Syrian, this was important to the director as only they could truly understand and convey the pain of having to leave Syria. It expertly sets out the dilemmas that people experience when deciding to stay or leave.”
