Service: Refugee Support Drop-in sessions

Who can use this service: People seeking asylum and those with refugee status living in Luton

 British Red Cross

Service: Refugee Support

Who can use this service: People seeking asylum, refugees and vulnerable migrants

When and where: Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Click here for full details

Information: The Refugee Support team of the British Red Cross provides advice, signposting and support to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants across the UK. The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire team provide localised support, ongoing casework and referrals to other key partners.

Housing

NOAH Enterprise

Service: Day centre and housing support for people facing or experiencing homelessness

Who can use this service: Adults aged 18+ years

When and where: Welfare Centre 141 Park Street, LU1 3HG Monday-Friday 9am-4pm exc Tuesday which is 9am-3pm and weekends is 9am-2pm. Click here for contact details

Information: Luton-based charity working across Bedfordshire offering hope and support to people struggling against homelessness and exclusion. We support those who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping with daily provisions and referrals to accommodation.

Employment

Employability for Overseas Nationals

Service: Employment Support

Who can use this service: People seeking asylum that have permission to work, people with refugee status living in Luton.

When and where: online service

Information: Employment advice from a specialist, experienced adviser. This will include CVs writing, application forms and interview practice. The employment adviser will work with each individual to help them find vacancies in line with their previous experience, qualifications and career goals. They will also provide support once a client has found work. This may include completing references and right to work checks, understanding contracts and facilitating conversations with superiors.

Mental Health Support

Hope Church

Service: Men’s Emotional Support Group

Who can use this service: Males seeking asylum or males that have refugee status and live in Luton

Information: The program has six sessions. The themes include: Building Trust, Reflecting on Stress levels, Stress and coping skills, Emotional Wounds, Feelings (naming and normalising them), Acceptance and letting go of the pain and resources and forgiveness.

Hope Church

Service: Global Cafe

Who can use this service: People seeking asylum and refugees living in Luton

When and where: Every Tuesday 15:00-17:00 Hope Church, Villa Road, LU1 7NT

Information: We have good conversations, games and some snacks. We also have table tennis and a range of other activities each week!

Oasis Centre

Service: English language

Who can use this service: Women with English as an additional language. Preschool children can accompany mums on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

When and where: Weekly Tuesday & Thursday 9.30 to 2.30 drop in for ladies Preschool children can attend. Wednesday 10am and 1pm English classes for ladies (no children). Click here for full details.

Information: The Oasis Center is for women with English as a second language or England as a second country. A place of safety, friendship and learning where women can come along with their pre school aged children or come alone. Click here for more information.

Community Support

Mary Seacole

Service: Bedfordshire Community Mediation Service

Who can use this service: All communities living in Luton and across Bedfordshire

When and where: The chatline is accessible to the community via the Bedfordshire CommUNITY Mediation Service website and will be open Monday to Thursday 9 am till 5 pm and on Friday from 9 am till 4pm. Click here to access

Information: The service aims to reduce Hate Crime and increase the report rates across Luton, Bedford and Central Bedfordshire. We work with the community and local police to gain a better understanding of the barriers faced when reporting hate crimes. You can access 1-2-1 support through the chatline or pre-book face-to-face meetings.
